Impact of prosecutions in populations closest to the HIV epidemic
Criminalization of HIV non-disclosure: implications for policy and practice, University of Toronto, 22nd March 2012
Speakers: Catherine Dodds
This presentation formed part of a seminar comprising a number of presentations on criminal prosecutions for the transmission of HIV, hosted by the Social Research Centre in HIV Prevention. Catherine's presentation began with a brief overview of how criminal law has been used to prosecute HIV transmission in England and Wales, as well as the development of best practice prosecution and policing guidance in relation to such prosecutions. The remainder of the talk offered an overview of the most prominent public health impacts of prosecutions, as supported by evidence collected across a range of studies undertaken by Sigma Research in the last few years.
