HIV prevention and the black African diaspora population in England.
Mobilization in Action: Global Forum & Planning Meeting (African Black Diaspora Global Network). Ottawa, March 3rd-4th, 2011.
Speakers: Catherine Dodds
Two similar versions of this talk were given at two separate events held the same week in Ottawa, Canada. The brief presentation covered key features of the epidemiology of HIV in the UK with particular regard to black African people and discussed some of the ongoing challenges in the targeted prevention landscape for this population. It went on to describe a structural intervention to improve the community sector’s capacity to address HIV prevention need among black African people in England through collaborative development of a strategic plan called The Knowledge, The Will and The Power (KWP) and an accompanying Handbook that specifies a range of interventions that are used to reduce HIV prevention need among African people in England.
